Flight simulators, the so-called “Flight Simulation Training Devices“ (FSTDs), can only be used in professional pilot training after qualification/ approval through the civil aviation authority, which contributes to keep up quality and safety standards in commercial aviation.
The technical and regulatory requirements for FSTD qualification for Europe can be found in the publications of the Joint Aviation Requirements, the so-called „JARs“. Especially, the JAR-FSTD A lists all requirements for the respective simulator qualification levels, but as any civil aviation authority has its own margin within the european regulatory framework, requirements may differ in every european country.
FTD Consulting supports Flight Simulator Manufacturers in the process of qualification/ approval of a FSTD. We inform our customers on technical and regulatory requirements and accompany them in the engineering & development process.
